“Charity Case” Gets Fox Pilot Order

Courteney Cox Comedy ‘Charity Case’ Gets Fox Pilot Order

A day after CBS handed a pilot order to a comedy starring Matt LeBlanc, Fox has given the pilot green light to a comedy toplined by another former Friends star, Courteney Cox.

The single-camera Charity Case (working title), was written by former The Office writer-producer Robert Padnick. As has been the case with virtually all Fox comedy pilot orders this season, Charity Case already has a director on board, James Griffiths, who had been attached since the project was set up at Fox earlier this development season. Charity Case hails from ABC Studios, which will co-produce with 20th Century Fox TV.

In Charity Case, when Hailey (Cox) inherits her late billionaire husband’s charity, she quickly finds that changing the world is far less glamorous than she had imagined. Cox, Padnick and Griffiths executive produce.

Of the rest of Cox and LeBlanc’s Friends co-stars, David Schwimmer recently signed on to star in AMC’s straight-to-series drama Feed the Beast, while Matthew Perry toplines CBS’ comedy series The Odd Couple.

James Burrows to be Honored by NBC

Jess     News & Rumors     0 Comments

Recently it was announced that the Friends cast may have a reunion. The cast are set to appear in a tribute to the amazing comedy director, James Burrows. However, NBC entertainment chairman Robert Greenblatt mentioned that it may be difficult for the six to all be in one room. Check out the article below.

One of TV’s biggest comedy hits ever is getting a long-awaited curtain call.

Twelve years after going off the air, the cast of Friends will reunite on NBC for a two-hour special, NBC announced at the Television Critics Association’s press tour in Pasadena on Wednesday.

The special is a tribute to Friends‘ legendary comedy director James Burrows, who also helmed iconic series such as Taxi, The Bob Newhart Show, and Cheers. Burrows directed 15 episodes of Friends, including the pilot, and recently shot his 1,000th episode of television.

While the special is about Burrows, the reunion of the cast of Friends — which launched in 1994 and ran for 10 seasons — is obviously the key buzzy highlight. All six original cast members (Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry, David Schwimmer) are on board.

But here’s the rub: The cast might not be together in the special. Efforts to wrangle all six cast members for reunion stunts have proved difficult in the past, with one or more members typically resisting behind the scenes. NBC entertainment chairman Robert Greenblatt was asked if the network would have all six in the same room. “I’m hoping all six will be in same room at same time; I’m not sure we can logistically pull it off,” Greenblatt told reporters.

The special will air Sunday, Feb. 21.

Courteney Cox To Star In Charity Comedy Series In Development At Fox

Cougar Town leading lady Courteney Cox has found her next starring vehicle, a single-camera comedy from former The Office writer-producer Robert Padnick and ABC Studios.

The untitled project, which is in consideration for a pilot order, centers on Hailey (Cox), a woman who inherits her late billionaire husband’s charity and quickly finds that changing the world is far less glamorous than she had imagined. James Griffiths is set to direct the potential pilot, written by Padnick. Cox, Padnick and Griffiths executive produce with Thea Mann.

The Fox project reunites Friends alumna Cox with ABC Studios, the studio behind Cougar Town, which ended its six-season run on ABC and TBS last spring. Cox made her feature directorial debut this past year in Just Before I Go, written by David Flebotte and starring Seann William Scott.<.blockquote>
